Cut, clean, sound and pace

Trim the clip

  1. Open Cut & Clean.
  2. Under Trim clip, type a Start or End time (minutes:seconds.milliseconds) and press Enter.
  3. Edited length shows the new length. If you've cut words inside the clip, Cuts shows how many and how much time they removed.
  4. Reset to full length goes back to the original start and end. Your cuts inside the clip are kept.

Clean up filler words and pauses

AI cleanup is on the Creator and Studio plans.

  1. Open Cut & Clean.
  2. Under Quick polish, click Scan next to Clean filler words, Tighten silences or Bleep flagged words.
  3. Wait for the scan to finish. If it fails, click Retry when it's offered.
  4. Click Review suggestions.

Nothing in your clip changes until you apply a suggestion. Filler-word scans only understand English.

Review suggestions

The review list shows how many suggestions are To review, Applied or Out of date, and the Change to clip length if you apply your selection.

  1. Click Preview on a suggestion to jump to it, or Show words to see the words it covers.
  2. Pick an action on the suggestion if it offers more than one.
  3. Tick Select on the ones you want, or click Select all.
  4. Click Apply selected. They apply as one change, so one undo reverses them all.

Where two suggestions overlap, bleeps win over filler-word cuts, and filler-word cuts win over pause cuts. Dismiss hides a suggestion and can't be undone. Undo last change undoes your most recent edit, whatever it was.

Clean voice

Clean voice is an audio effect for speech. It's on the Creator and Studio plans.

  1. Move the playhead onto the part of the clip you want to clean.
  2. Open Sound and drag the Clean voice slider.
  3. Click Compare to switch between Cleaned and Original.

Clean voice applies to one section at a time. The preview is approximate.

Change volume and fades

Sound changes apply to the section under the playhead.

  1. Move the playhead onto the section you want to change.
  2. Open Sound and drag Clip volume. 0 dB is the original volume. Reset to original volume undoes it.
  3. Play the clip and watch the meter. If you see Too loud, the export will sound distorted, so lower the volume.
  4. Set Fade in and Fade out in milliseconds, or turn on Mute.

Music

The Sound panel has a Music section and a Lower music while someone speaks switch. Adding music isn't available yet, and the switch isn't saved to your clip. See Known limitations.

Change speed

  1. Move the playhead onto the section you want to change.
  2. Open Pace and pick a preset (0.5× to 2×), or type a Custom speed from 0.25× to 4×.
  3. Leave Preserve voice pitch on so voices don't sound higher or lower.

Speed applies to a whole section. To change part of a section, split it first (press S on the timeline). Captions stay in sync automatically. Timing in the preview matches your export exactly, but the audio may sound slightly different in the preview.
