Visuals, text, emoji and transitions

Visuals, text and emoji appear where you choose. Select words in the Storyline first to place an item exactly while those words are spoken. Otherwise it goes at the playhead.

Upload your own media

  1. Open Visuals and choose My media.
  2. Upload an image or video. The maximum file size and your total storage are shown in the panel.
  3. Select words, or move the playhead, where it should appear.
  4. Click Add visual here.

Under Placement audio, choose Keep original audio, Use B-roll audio or Mix both before you add a video. Your added visuals are listed under Project. Remove from clip takes a visual off the clip, and the file stays in your media. You can't delete a file that a clip still uses.

Add stock visuals

Stock visuals are on the Creator and Studio plans.

  1. Open Visuals and choose Stock.
  2. Search for what you want to show.
  3. Click Add to clip on a result.

Results whose licence can't be verified aren't added.

Generate images

Generated images are on the Creator and Studio plans.

  1. Open Visuals and choose Generate.
  2. Describe the visual and click Generate. You can cancel while it runs.
  3. Add the image you like to the clip. Generated images are marked AI-made.

Find b-roll moments

  1. Open Visuals and choose B-Roll.
  2. Click Find b-roll moments. We read the transcript for moments that would work better with a visual.
  3. Add a suggestion, or click Skip.

You can also select words in the Storyline, click Add, then AI B-Roll. Short clips, or clips that are already visual, may get no suggestions.

Add text

  1. Select words, or move the playhead, where the text should appear.
  2. Open Text and type up to 60 characters.
  3. Set the colour as a hex value (for example FFFFFFFF), the position, and the Entrance and Exit animations.
  4. Click Add text here.

If the text is close to the edge, you'll see a warning that app buttons may cover it on some platforms. Text keeps its position if you change the aspect ratio.

Add emoji

  1. Select words, or move the playhead, where the emoji should appear.
  2. Open Emoji, then pick one from the quick picks, a group, or search.
  3. Set the size and click Add emoji here.

Drag an emoji on the preview to move it. Emoji suggestions turns suggested emoji on or off for the whole clip (Creator and Studio plans).

Add transitions

Transitions go between scenes, so your clip needs at least two sections. Press S on the timeline to split it.

  1. Open Motion. Each scene break is listed with its own transition.
  2. Choose Cut, Crossfade, Dip to black or Slide. Slide also has a direction.
  3. Set the duration in milliseconds. It can't be longer than the shorter of the two scenes.

Transitions don't change your clip's length. The preview is approximate, but your export shows the exact transition.
