Layout, crop and tracking

Layout changes apply to the section under the playhead. Move the playhead first.

Fit or fill the frame

  1. Open Layout.
  2. Choose Fit to show the whole video, or Fill to fill the frame.
  3. To use the same layout elsewhere, click Use this layout for similar sections, then Apply. One undo reverses it.

Crop the frame

  1. Open Layout and click Edit framing on canvas, or double-click the preview.
  2. Drag the box on the preview to frame the shot.
  3. Click Apply.

The crop numbers are a share of the frame (from 0 to 1), so a crop looks right at any aspect ratio. You can only type crop numbers while you're framing on the canvas.

Split the screen between two speakers

Speaker split is on the Creator and Studio plans, and needs a clip where two speakers were detected.

  1. Open Layout and choose Speaker split.
  2. Speaker positions shows who is where, for example "Top: Speaker 1".
  3. Click Swap speakers to switch them.
  4. Turn on Keep speaker positions so speakers stay in the same place in other split sections.

If the clip hasn't been checked for speakers, the panel says so. You can't start speaker detection from the editor yet.

Picture in picture

Picture in picture is on the Creator and Studio plans and also needs two detected speakers.

  1. Open Layout and choose Picture in picture.
  2. Use Edit framing on canvas to adjust the main view.

Follow the subject

Subject tracking is on the Creator and Studio plans.

  1. Open Layout and find Follow subject.
  2. Choose Auto to follow movement automatically.
  3. Or choose Pick subject, then click the subject on the preview.

Tracking needs subject analysis first. You can't start that analysis from the editor yet.
