Getting started

Upload a video

  1. Sign in and click Upload video on your dashboard.
  2. Drop a video onto the upload area, or click it to choose a file. MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM files work.
  3. Check your settings, then click Upload & Process.

Your video needs an audio track with speech, and it must be at least 12 seconds long. If a file is too large or too long for your plan, we tell you before anything is processed.

Before processing, you can choose the Analysed section of the video. A shorter section uses fewer hours. You can also pick a caption style, and on paid plans how we look for highlights. Click Save as default to use the same settings next time.

What happens after you upload

Your video goes through four stages, and the progress bar shows which one it's in:

  1. Preparing your video
  2. Transcribing: we turn the speech into text.
  3. Finding the best moments: we pick the parts that work as standalone clips.
  4. Creating your clips: we cut each clip and add captions.

How long it takes

Processing can take a few minutes, depending on the length of your video. You can keep using the dashboard while it runs, and the progress stays visible under My Videos.

If we can't make clips from a video, we tell you why. For some problems, like finding no moment worth clipping, the hours are returned to your plan. See Troubleshooting.

What you get

Each video in My Videos lists its clips. For each clip you can:

  • click Edit to open it in the editor,
  • rename it,
  • download it as an MP4.

Clips made on the Free plan include a PowerCut watermark. Whether a clip is watermarked is decided when the clip is created, and it doesn't change later.

Next: make your first clip better.
